    OSBURN, James
      James Osburn and his brother Ezekiel migrated from HindsCounty, Mississippi and bought land in Wharton Co. TX from Joseph Newman in 1846. They farmed the land and raised cattle until 1860. After 1860 they bought land from William Brookfield and maintained a very successful ranch in Fayette Co. TX. Their sons continued to farm the land even after the civil war. James' son, John M. was part of the confederate Texas regiment in 1862. Other relatives settled in Coryell, Bell, Falls, McClennan and Uvalde counties throughout the years.
