My ancestor was Cyrus Underwood who came to Texas with his family and entered the Colony of Peters, previous to July, 1843. He was born 23 July, 1800 in Montgomery Co., NY, the son of Elias and Parthena Salisbury Underwood. He married Fanny, last name unknown, about 1820 and they started West. They first moved to IL, then MO and thence into TX settling in Fannin Co. Cyrus and young son were killed and scalped in an Indian ambush. He died 2 Feb. 1845. Children of Cyrus & Fannie Underwood were: Elias, Matilda, Edmund/Edward, Electa Ann, Norman, Fanny, Mary Lavina, William, Thomas, Levi & Charles.
